How do students, parents, and teachers sign up for the Let’s Talk Careers Competition?

All new participants will have to start by creating their free ChatterHigh accounts here. As users are creating their accounts, they will select the school they are associated with to contribute to their school’s leaderboard. To break it
down, the Let’s Talk Careers Competition is divided into two competitive categories connected to the same Daily Quiz activity:

Canada’s Most Informed Schools Competition: $10,000 in cash prizes for top schools.

Schools will enter the competition once the first students, teachers, or parents associated with that school complete their first daily quiz question. During the competition dates, all earned points from the school’s participants accumulate together to contribute to the school’s ranking on the leaderboard.

Canada's Most Informed School Competition

Canada’s Most Informed Students Competition: $40,000 in cash bursaries for top students.

Students will automatically be competing once they complete their first daily quiz question within the competition dates. All points they accumulate will contribute to their individual ranking on the student leaderboard and their combined school’s leaderboard.

Teachers love Let’s Talk Careers because it turns career exploration into a fun, gamified learning experience. The daily quizzes align with curriculum goals, encourage classroom discussions, and make students genuinely excited to learn. It’s quick, self-marking, and sparks curiosity with no prep required!

How does the competition support curriculum goals?

All quiz content is curriculum-aligned and designed to complement subjects like career studies, social studies, and life skills. It reinforces critical thinking, research, and digital literacy, all while meeting learning outcomes in a fun, engaging way.

Is it easy for teachers to get started?

Absolutely. Teachers can set up classes in minutes, assign quizzes as bell-ringers or homework, and track student progress through automatic reports. No grading needed! Everything is self-marking and ready to go.

Is there a cost to participate?

There is no cost to participate in the ChatterHigh activity or competition. Schools can even earn money that can be used towards important school initiatives.

How can parents support their teens during Let’s Talk Careers?

Parents can encourage open conversations about interests and career options, celebrate small wins, and even quiz alongside their teens. Joining in helps foster curiosity and contributes to the school’s leaderboard and learning becomes a shared experience.

Why should parents get involved?

Parental involvement boosts motivation and confidence. Whether it’s offering emotional support, sharing personal insights, or exploring new resources together, the presence helps teens connect learning with real-world possibilities.

How do students win money for participating?

Canada's Most Informed Student Competition

Students earn points by researching and by answering questions correctly. Students who answer 300 questions correctly prior to the bursary pot being depleted, will win $100. Once the bursary pot is depleted, the pot will be locked, and no more $100 prizes will be earned.

However, students that reach 350 correct questions answered will be entered into one of four draws for an additional $500.

The Top 4 students with the highest accumulated points at the conclusion of the competition will earn $500 each. In the event of a tie, the first 4 students to reach that score will be considered the 'top students'. Top 4 students will not be entered into the Draws. Students have the opportunity to win up to $600 total.

I missed the first day of the competition. Is it too late to join?

It is not too late to join if you miss the first day or even weeks. You can join the competition at any point, but we definitely recommend getting started early. With hard work, we have seen schools start late and earn a grand prize spot. There’s also a lot of value in the career exploration and awareness students gain during the competition, so even if you don’t win a grand prize, it is worthwhile to get involved! Additionally, students can use the points they earn to enter exciting draw prizes, even if they don’t take home a grand prize.

Does redeeming my points for draws or charity mean the points won’t go towards the leaderboard when competitions are in progress?

Not at all. Choosing to redeem your points during competition time does not affect the competition leaderboard. Points automatically contribute to the leaderboard, so you can use those same points to enter draws or donate, with no penalty. Redeem away!

How do the school and students receive their competition winnings?

For school competitions, all cash prize winnings will be mailed directly to the school. We encourage school administration to recognize the teachers and classes who participated!

For student competitions, after the competition ends, we request the necessary student information from teachers or school administration to issue the cheques. Once received, a bursary cheque is issued for each winning student and mailed to the school along with any school prize cheques. Participating teachers or school administration are then responsible for distributing the bursary cheques to the winning students.

What are some ideas for using our school’s competition winnings?

Some great ways we have seen schools use their winnings in the past include:

  • Pizza party for participating classes
  • Bicycle rack for school
  • Graduation party
  • Presenters for the career classes
  • Technology for the classroom
  • Water bottle filling station for school
  • Field trips
  • Donated to overseas humanitarian projects

What if the competition overlaps with holidays?

ChatterHigh can be done outside of the classroom on mobile devices or computers, so students can still participate even when class isn’t in session. There are bursary prizes to be won by individual students, which can be extra motivation to participate outside of class. Daily engagement, even on weekends and holidays, is the key to success, helping students stay ahead, maximize their points, and increase their chances of winning bursary prizes. Consistent participation turns learning and career exploration into a habit, making the competition both fun and rewarding.
