ChatterHigh 2024 - 2025: A Record-Breaking Year of Career Exploration

Written by Tanvir Kaur | 30 Jun, 2025

With technology advancing quickly, industries and workforce demands are changing. This shift has sparked a transformation in education and made career awareness more important than ever. Unfortunately, many students are still unaware of the many career pathways available to them, but knowing these options is essential for making informed choices about their futures. ChatterHigh helps students bridge that gap by partnering with industry leaders to provide insights into career paths they might not have considered.

In the 2024/2025 school year, ChatterHigh expanded its impact and reach across Canada. With thousands more students exploring various career paths and educators equipped with engaging, curriculum-aligned, and ready-to-use content, this school year has been a remarkable success.

National impact at a glance

Nearly 6 million questions were answered during this record-breaking school year, demonstrating strong adoption across Canada. ChatterHigh is rapidly becoming a key resource for career exploration.

Key highlights across Canada include:

  • Over 1,000 schools used ChatterHigh in their classrooms. This helped students learn important life skills like taxes, money management, mental health, and overall well-being while also learning about a wide range of career paths.

  • An all-time high of 257 school districts used ChatterHigh as a tool to introduce students to in-demand careers early on.

  • With more than 32,000 students taking part, the number of questions answered rose to an impressive 5.79 million, highlighting the value of the content and its widespread use in classrooms.

These numbers reflect student curiosity to learn about career paths and become informed, as well as schools’ and educators’ commitment to equipping students with the tools they need to prepare for life after school.

Year-Over-Year Growth

This school year, the number of questions answered increased by almost 1 million, the most in ChatterHigh's history, and student participation increased by 17%. This increase implies that educators are observing improved student engagement and learning results.

Reaching Every Corner of the Country

This year has been nothing short of amazing, with new schools across various provinces utilizing ChatterHigh. The map below illustrates our learners across the country!

Partnerships Powering Purpose

Partnerships remain a key factor in ChatterHigh’s success and expansion, as more national and provincial organizations come together to empower students with relevant and accurate resources.

This school year led to a multi-year partnership with FCAC to help students learn about key financial topics and empower them to be confident and prepared for life beyond high school.

The Empowering Futures: Boosting Girls’ Financial Confidence Through Gamified Learning research brief by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) highlights the impact of boosting financial literacy among students. Through gamified financial education delivered on ChatterHigh, FCAC reached over 7,400 Canadian students from grades 6 to 12 between February 2022 and January 2023, effectively strengthening financial knowledge and narrowing the gender gap in multiple areas.

Another highlight this year was our collaboration with the Government of Manitoba to build sector council career courses and run a province-wide career exploration competition. The provincial government is investing in the future workforce by guiding students through in-demand careers with interactive exploration modules. This initiative brings together 11 key industries to provide insights into career pathways, post-secondary options, and training opportunities.

ChatterHigh has teamed up with various organizations across Canada to raise awareness among students in a fun and interactive way. These partnerships highlight ChatterHigh’s role as a vital link between government, industry, and career education, delivering meaningful outcomes for everyone involved.

Another powerful provincial story is the partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) in New Brunswick to support their campaign promoting environmental and climate engagement in Anglophone schools. The Government of New Brunswick is taking a leading role in climate action, and partnerships like this effectively support provincial plans while raising climate literacy among youth across the province. As part of the collaboration, ChatterHigh launched the New Brunswick Climate Action Education Modules and hosted two provincial competitions based on the content.

This year, we saw increased engagement from several B.C. districts such as SD 34, 68 and 78 where we worked closely to build custom courses covering topics such as trades and transitions program and healthcare pathways. These partnerships highlight how districts can engage and assess learners digitally by developing customized modules that align with their regional priorities and student interests.

National Competitions: Incentivizing Curiosity and Connection

This year, ChatterHigh awarded over $186,000 in cash prizes through various competitions. These competitions are about more than rewards—they drive national engagement across schools, foster school spirit and teamwork, and introduce students to new career paths and topics.

The Let’s Talk Careers Competition, ChatterHigh’s biggest national competition, saw great performance this school year as well. In the 2025 spring semester alone, over 40 days, 8,500 students from 378 schools collectively answered 747,904 questions about careers and postsecondary pathways.

We saw classrooms challenge each other in the school or across schools, boosting engagement and motivation. These competitions provide schools opportunities to win cash prizes that can be invested in classroom improvements or new technology for students. We’ve even seen schools fund initiatives like prom or field trips with their winnings!

For example, Miramichi Valley High School (ASD-N), known for their strong competition performance, consistently ranked at the top of the leaderboards for both Let’s Talk Careers and Learn About Your Taxes. They used their winnings to invest in exciting new technology, including a 3D printer and a compact at-home 3D laser printer!

Celebrating Success: Certificates of Achievement

We launched Certificates of Achievement for a number of ChatterHigh courses this academic year! A downloadable certificate is available to students who successfully finish qualifying courses with a score of 50% or above. In addition to recognizing students' accomplishments, these certificates are excellent resume enhancers for post-secondary and job applications.

They serve as micro-credentials in vital life-skills domains such as career pathways, financial literacy, anti-oppression, and health & wellness. Additionally, they can serve as certifications of recognition for specific programs. Beyond empowering students, this new feature provides schools with an additional means of recognizing accomplishments and encouraging engagement.

Schools in Ontario are a strong example of how ChatterHigh is being integrated into curricula. Many are now leveraging the new Certificate of Achievement feature to support SHSM certification, using ChatterHigh’s gamified, SHSM-aligned content to engage students and meet program requirements.

Spreading the Message: Conferences and School Presentations

This year, ChatterHigh increased its national visibility by participating in and attending important conferences for career development and education. Highlights include:

  • Our CEO, Lee Taal, served as a judge in the student showcase hosted by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development at the NB STEM Conference in April 2025. He distributed certificates for "Most Career-Connected Exhibit" and even went to Miramichi Valley High School (ASD-N), where he met a ChatterHigh superstar teachers and students who proudly displayed ChatterHigh-won gear.

  • OSCA Conference (Ontario School Counsellors’ Association): Celebrating its 60th anniversary, this event brought together 400+ guidance counselors., As a Gold Sponsor, ChatterHigh played a key role in workshops and discussions aimed at preparing students for the ever-changing job market.

Beyond these conferences, Lee and the ChatterHigh team made plenty of school visits to engage directly with educators and students. Over the school year, the team delivered 342 presentations, conducted 103 teacher onboarding sessions, and facilitated 25 professional development workshops. These visits were invaluable for building relationships, gathering feedback, and empowering students with the information they need to make informed choices about their futures.
